Brandon Routh to join Arrow Season 3

Here's an Awesome Update for Brandon Routh and Arrow fans! The former Superman actor is set to make his second foray into DC properties, this time taking on the recurring role of Ray Palmer aka The Atom in the upcoming Season 3 of Arrow!

The shows brief for the character is as follows (minor spoilers): "An unparalleled scientist and inventor, Ray will play an unexpected role in the lives of Oliver and (rumored love interest) Felicity as the new owner of Queen Consolidated. Palmer’s plans for Queen Consolidated’s Applied Sciences Division will be shrouded in mystery." Outside of comics, the Atom has made several appearances in DC's animated series, the most recent being in Young Justice. His appearance in Arrow, however, will mark the first time the character has been seen in a live-action piece.

Routh is most recognisable for portraying the Man of Steel himself in the oft-criticised Bryan Singer film, Superman Returns - though many lay the films failings at the feet of the script and direction, rather than at Routh's portrayal. Since then, Routh played one of the Seven Evil Ex's in Scott Pilgrim vs The World, as well as appearing in several TV shows.

What do you think? Are you excited to see The Atom appear in Arrow? Do you think Routh will be a good addition to the cast? Let us know in the comments below!

Peter Stormare joins Arrow Season 3

Here's an Awesome Update for Peter Stormare and Arrow fans! The veteran actor has signed on to join the cast of Arrow in Season 3, playing a new Count Vertigo!

The actor is perhaps best known for his role as Russian astronaut Lev Andropov in Michael Bay's Armageddon, but has shown in up in many films and TV shows through the years - this year, he appeared in The Blacklist, where he looks to be a major villain for Season 2. A character based on Count Vertigo - a regular Green Arrow nemesis in the comics - has already appeared in Season 1 and 2, played by Seth Gabel; that version was a drug dealer who peddled a new, dangerous drug called Vertigo, and was eventually killed off in Season 2. This new character - called Werner Zytle, which is Count Vertigo's alias in the comics - comes on to the scene as a new purveyor of the Vertigo drug, but it's unclear whether he will have metahuman powers like his comics counterpart. With The Flash bringing superpowers into the same universe as Arrow, it's a distinct possibility, and would help alleviate some of the flak the first version of the character received from die hard comics fans.

What do you think? Are you excited to see Stormare join the cast? Are you hoping they "get it right" this time round, or did you enjoy Gabel's take? Let us know in the comments below!

First image of Henry Cavill's Superman in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice

Here's an Awesome Update for DC and Batman vs Superman fans! The first official image of Henry Cavill suited up as the Man of Steel has been released!

The suit doesn't appear to have had any major updates, but it's naturally difficult to see if the detailing has been tweaked. The image shows Supes standing on a grim and rainy rooftop that is rather reminiscent of Gotham City, home of the Caped Crusader and the other half of the World's Finest, Batman.

What do you think? Were you hoping for some major suit updates? Are you excited for the film? Let us know in the comments below!

Devon Aoki cast as Katana in Arrow Season 3

Here's an Awesome Update for Devon Aoki and Arrow fans! The actress, best known for her role as the deadly assassin Miho in Sin City, has signed on for a recurring role as the DC hero Katana for Arrow's upcoming Season 3!

In the comics, Katana is one of the greatest martial artists in the world and a fully trained master Samurai. She also possesses a mystical sword that captures the soul of anyone she kills with it and then allows her to communicate with that soul at any time. She is also an original and long time member of The Outsiders. As for in the TV show, it seems she will feature in the flashback sequences - at the end of Season 2, Ollie was taken to Hong Kong from the island by Amanda Waller, and it is here that Katana will make an appearance and become a mentor figure to Ollie, a "critical influence on his journey to eventually become The Arrow of present day."

I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!”

It's unclear yet whether this season will be the last, with the "Six Seasons and a Movie" tag still doing the rounds.

Elden Hensen joins Daredevil as Foggy Nelson

Here's an Awesome Update for Daredevil fans! Elden Hensen has joined the cast of Marvel and Netflix's upcoming Daredevil series as Foggy Nelson!

Elden Hensen is best known for his roles in The Mighty Ducks and, more recently, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. The character of Foggy Nelson is Matt Murdock's (the public persona of Daredevil) best friend and legal partner. Marvel's Head of Television, Jeph Loeb, said "Elden plays one of the most important characters in the world of 'Marvel’s Daredevil,' and we’re thrilled to see Foggy Nelson brought to life by such an incredibly talented actor. He perfectly captures the heart and soul of this series, bringing an added resonance to Matt Murdock’s fight against the injustice in their great city."

Scoot McNairy joins Batman vs Superman cast

Here's an Awesome Update for Scoot McNairy and Batman vs Superman fans! McNairy has signed on to appear in the upcoming Batman vs Superman!

The actor is most recognisable from his roles opposite Brad Pitt in Killing Them Softly and Ben Kingsley in Marvel's one-shot, All Hail the King, so he's not a stranger to action, drama and - perhaps crucially - comic book pieces. At the time of writing, his official role has not be disclosed, and he is yet to be confirmed or not for the Justice League film or, indeed, any of the subsequent planned films. It's anyone's guess at the moment who is going to be playing, and whether it is a character limited to the one film (a villain perhaps?), tied to either Batman or Superman and their own films (some people are speculating Nightwing or Jimmy Olsen), or whether he will end up being a Justice League member himself (some people are supporting the notion he'd make a good Hal Jordan/Green Lantern).

What do you think? Who would you like to see him play? Let us know in the comments below!

Pacific Rim 2 officially announced

Here's an Awesome Update for Guillermo Del Toro and Pacific Rim fans! A sequel to popular giant robots vs giant monsters flick from veteran filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro has been officially announced and given a release date!

Del Toro is working on the script with new collaborator Zak Penn, and the co-writer of the original film, Travis Beacham will also be contributing. The first film set the stage and now we’re ready to have a blast.”

According to Buzzfeed, an animated series set in the same universe and continuity will also be released in the USA by Universal Pictures at an as of yet undisclosed date prior to the sequel.

Del Toro also said the film will follow on from the events of the first, and focus once again on Charlie Hunnam's Raleigh and Rinko Kikuchi's Mako. The film will hit cinemas April 17th, 2017.

First look at Mad Max 4

Here's an Awesome Update for Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron and Mad Max fans! The upcoming next installment in the classic 80s post-apocalyptic franchise, Mad Max: Fury Road, has released its first look at stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, thanks to a cover piece for Entertainment Weekly!

Hardy will take on the role of Max from Mel Gibson, whilst Charlize Theron plays Furiosa, a "woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland." Just to punctuate how badass she is, she's also got a fully robotic arm.

George Miller, who has written and directed the entire Mad Max series to date, said that the story for Fury Road came to him in full back in 2000, and that he “wanted to tell a linear story–a chase that starts as the movie begins and continues for 110 minutes. In this crucible of very intense action, the characters are revealed.

What do you think? Are you excited to see Mad Max get another installment all these years later? Do you think Hardy will be a good Max? What about Theron? Let us know in the comments below!

Shane Black's Predator a sequel, not a reboot

Here's an Awesome Update for Predator fans! Despite the news breaking that Shane Black (Iron Man 3) was rebooting the Predator franchise, the director has since clarified that he will, in fact, be making an "inventive sequel" to the 1987 Arnie classic, NOT a reboot!

Black spoke to Collider, where he said he and fellow screenwriter Fred Dekker will be expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the restart button."

What do you think? Are you more excited now that you know it will be a sequel rather than a reboot? Let us know in the comments below!
