Sansa Stark to play Mary Shelley in upcoming film

Here's an Awesome Update for Game of Thrones and Mary Shelley fans! An upcoming film, Mary Shelley's Monster, takes a look at the life of the famous 19th century author as she writes her most famous book, and Sophie Turner - who plays Sansa Stark on hit HBO show, Game of Thrones - has signed up for the lead role!

The film “tracks the young writer as she writes her seminal novel and is drawn into a Faustian bargain with her own ‘monster’ of an alter ego, who offers literary fame at a desperate personal cost,” and is written by Deborah Baxtrom, who already has experience with the subject matter having penned the show "Living With Frankenstein". Turner will star alongside Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) and Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story), who are playing Mary's husband, Peter Shelley, and Mary's step-sister, Claire Clarmont, respectively.

Rose Ganguzza, the film's Producer, described it as “the story of the most extraordinary 19th century teenage heroine told in a visceral, sexy, contemporary way. Our film is not a period drama. It is a story of youth that transcends time, a gothic romance, a love triangle that involves a dark passenger and we are tremendously excited to have such an exciting cast onboard this wonderful project.”

The film will be directed by Coky Giedroyc, who's credits include episodes of The Hour, The Killing and Penny Dreadful - the latter of which features Frankenstein and his creature among its characters.

What do you think? Are you excited to see Turner get such a big role? What are your hopes for the film? Let us know in the comments below!
