RDJ to join Cap 3 for Civil War?!

Here's a potentially Awesome Update for Marvel fans everywhere! Rumours have been flying around today that Robert Downey Jnr is set to join Chris Evens in Captain America 3, with the rumoured title for the film being either 'Civil War' or 'Fallen Son'. Readers of the Marvel comics will recognise that both of those titles are directly related to Mark Millers brilliant graphic novel, with Fallen Son being the follow up story arc after the major events of Civil War.

Civil War is widely considered to be one of the best Marvel graphic novels out there and see's it's heroes take sides over the Superhero Registration Act with Cap on one side and Tony Stark on the other. The events of Civil War would definitely cause some massive changes to the MCU.

Variety, who supplied the orignal story, have said that RDJ was set to have a small part in the film but wanted a much bigger one, leading Marvel studios President Kevin Feige to jump at he opportunity to bring Civil War to the MCU. This rumour would answer the current 'will he? won't he?' situation surrounding RDJ and a possible Iron Man 4 movie.

Would you like to see Civil War come to the MCU? Let us know in the comments below.

First look at Mockingbird on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D

Here's an Awesome Update for Mockingbird and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans! EW.com released this first look image of the veteran comics Avenger and superhero, Bobbi Morse aka Mockingbird, in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.!

In the comics, Mockingbird is most notable for her affiliations with the Avengers, the West Coast Avengers and her personal relationship with fellow Avenger Hawkeye. According to ABC, Mockingbird as of this picture is the Head of Hydra Security, which is a big step in the other direction; in other words, it's likely she's deep cover infiltrating Hydra the way they infiltrated S.H.I.E.L.D. Poetic comic writing that the AoS writers (and we) love. It remains to be seen whether the Mockingbird/Hawkeye relationship will be explored in the MCU, whether through Renner making an appearance(s) on the TV show, or Adrianne Palicki transferring to film.

What do you think? Do you think the "Head of Hydra Security" is an obvious mole story? Or do you think Marvel are actually pulling a fast one? What of the look - Mockingbird traditionally has blonde/light brown hair, and obviously the Hydra uniform is a big deviation, but it could all be a ruse! Finally, what do you want to see (or not see) in regards to Hawkeye? Let us know in the comments below!

First full look at BvS Batmobile

Here's an Awesome Update for Batman vs Superman and DC fans! As part of the promo material that is beginning to roll out for DCs upcoming titan title, Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, director Zach Snyder took to Twitter and posted the first full look at the Batmobile!

This take on the batmobile clearly riffs on the Nolan Tumbler, and even evokes the batmobile that players will be able to pilot in the upcoming Rocksteady game, Arkham Knight. A more militarised, gritty approach does seem appropriate for the tone Snyder is going with the DC Cinematic Universe, and let's be honest: if Batfleck rolled up in something akin to Burton's version, we wouldn't be able to take the film seriously.

What do you think? Are you happy with the design? Are you excited to see Batfleck in action? Let us know in the comments below!

Apple unveils iPhone 6

Here's an Awesome Update for Apple and iPhone fans! Apple unveiled their latest iPhone at a press event this morning, and it will launch on the 19th of September in the States!

The iPhone 6 comes in two sizes - either the standard iPhone 6, or the iPhone 6 Plus - that put the devices at 4.7inch screen / 6.8mm thick and 5.5inch screen / 7.1mm thick respectively; this makes them both thinner than the iPhone 5S, and with bigger screens, as was rumoured. They run the new A8 chipset, which Apple claim is 25% faster than the A7 and with 50% increased graphics performance. There have been improvements to LTE and WiFi performance, as well as camera improvements (including new, faster "phase detection" focus and "True Tone" flash), but there are seemingly no improvements to battery life - though Apple still claim that gives you 24hrs of Talk Time on 3G.

Each model will be available in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB versions.

What do you think? Are you excited for the new iPhone? Will you be getting it? If not, what will you get instead? Let us know in the comments below!

Arrow Season 3 gets first trailer and casts Ra's Al Ghul

Here's an Awesome Update for DC, Arrow and Ra's Al Ghul fans! Ahead of the premiere of Season 3, The CW have released a trailer and the casting announcement for big DC villain, Ra's Al Ghul - Matt Nable!

Matt Nable is an Australian actor and former professional Rugby League player who's most notable western film credit is Riddick, and his TV credits include Underbelly and Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms. He will be playing the enigmatic Ra's Al Ghul, leader of the League of Assassins and shaper of history. The character has been teased numerous times in the show already, but his first appearance won't be until episode 3 - Arrows 50th episode overall - of this coming season.

The trailer itself shows some Olicity love, with Ollie and Felicity apparently trying out dating. Oliver/Arrow seems a lot happier in and of himself after the finale of Season 2, and everything is going peachy - or, at least, it is at first. We also get glimpses of Roy in his Arsenal set up, newcomers Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/The Atom) and Peter Stormare (Werner Zytle/Count Vertigo) and even a sequence where Oliver uses a firearm.

What do you think, are you excited to see the upcoming season? What are your hopes for the story? Are you happy with the Ra's casting? Let us know in the comments below!

Mortal Kombat X gets release date

Here's an Awesome Update for Mortal Kombat fans! The release date of the next installment in the popular fighting game franchise, entitled Mortal Kombat X (because it's the 10th, geddit?), has been announced - the 14th of April, 2015!

This game will follow on from the events of MK9, where everything went back to the first tournament and history was re-written - thanks to some time-travelling mental message shenanigans by Raiden - and the universe of Mortal Kombat got turned upside down. As an incentive, NetherRealms have unveiled veteran character Goro as a pre-order only character - the availability depends on region and retailer, as ever.

The game will be released on Xbox 360, Xbox One, Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and PC.

What do you think? Are you excited for this game? Will you be pre-ordering for the Goro character? What are your hopes for the story? Let us know in the comments below!

Joan Rivers, 81, dies of cardiac arrest

Joan Rivers, the controversial comedian, actress, writer and more, has passed away at 81 years of age after suffering "cardiac and respiratory arrest" during a "minor elective procedure", according to CNN.

Rivers had a long and illustrious career, in which she became a leader in a variety of things; after her stint as a writer and occasional guest/guest-host on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, Rivers became the first female comedian to headline Carnegie Hall in '83, the first female to host her own late night talk show in '86, and wrote a number of books, played Vegas numerous times, wrote and directed feature films and had various stand-up shows.

She was known for her sharp and scathing wit that often cut to the bone - her detractors regularly liken her comedy to bullying, but regardless, millions were entertained by her. Most recently, she courted controversy when quoted as saying that the Palestinians in the Israel/Gaza conflict "deserve to die", though she insisted it was taken out of context. Regardless, she will be missed by many, and she has certainly left her mark.

R.I.P Joan Rivers, from all of us here at The Awesome Update.
